Tekweni Backpackers Hostel

Category : YOUTH HOSTEL/ACCOMMODATION/BACKPACKERS LODGE
City / Town : Durban
Description : Tekweni backpackers was established in 1992 making it one of the first 5 hostels in South Africa. Tekweni is located in a large colonial home (built in 1896) in the heart of the vibrant suburb of Morningside. We built our reputation due to our festive atmosphere and fun loving approach. Constant renovations over our many years of business results in us now having possibly the best backpacker facilities in Durban. These include: a spacious sparkling new stainless steel kitchen area complete with all the things you need to whip up a great chow. Friendly high tech reception area also recently renovated. Open air poolside bar area adjoining reception with a constant flow of groovy tunes and exotic "bevies". Festive sports bar with satellite hosting all the best sports stuff worldwide. Sparkling swimming pool set in the lush tropical garden smack in the middle of all the action. Pool table for fun right next to the swimming pool. Communal braais ("barbies") on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, salad and rolls provided, byo meat or whatever. Regular parties and celebrations. Comfy TV lounge complete with satellite as well. Fast and cheap Internet for guests. Abundant private toilets and showers also newly renovated. Sparkling wooden floors throughout. Spacious clean comfortable rooms with high ceilings and ceiling fans. Dorms, singles, doubles, twins, triples, quads. Storage for those heading out on tour. Full travel information centre set next to the pool.
Locality : We are located in Morningside just off the famous Florida rd which is the hub of entertainment in Durban. Everything you could wish for is within walking distance and the area is safe. The Victorian architecture and pavement cafe atmosphere culture makes it by far the best part of Durban. It is the closest suburb to both the city centre and the beach, both are within 20 minutes walking distance and we are on all the main bus routes.
